With the number of private and semi-private museums on the rise, privately owned art is becoming increasingly accessible to the public – giving philanthropic art collectors the chance to exhibit their artworks and giving the public the opportunity to view previously inaccessible pieces.

Hunter explains that art-backed lending is supporting this phenomenon, allowing collectors to raise funds against their fine art to grow their collections, while helping museums acquire works that may have previously been deaccessioned.
