S&P Global Ratings’ considers the financial risks of climate change for Sustainable City Network

In a joint contribution article, Kurt Forsgren, Ted Chapman and Lisa Schrooer of S&P Global Ratings consider the U.S. municipal market’s credit exposure to weather-related and natural catastrophes – and how this is increasingly being considered through the lens of climate change.

They argue that, while the effect of climate change on municipal issuer ratings has been minimal so far, the future now depends on good management, and strong mitigation and adaptation initiatives.
