New Business magazine has featured an article by Oliver Everett, CEO of the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC), discussing the Commonwealth Trade Initiative (CTI), a digital B2B platform that connects businesses from across the Commonwealth.
Discussing the wider landscape of digital B2B platforms such as Alibaba.com, Oliver noted that the CTI lowers barriers to entering new markets by removing the obstacles of time, distance and relevancy in the search for distant trading partners. With similarities to networking sites such as LinkedIn – but specifically in the B2B space within the Commonwealth sphere – it uses a sophisticated business matching algorithm that automatically provides users with targeted business leads based on their user profile information.
The matching algorithm is constantly at work behind the scenes to gather information to produce daily business matches. It combines big data and machine learning to automate the procurement, lead generation and networking process.
