While many banks are de-risking and retreating from emerging markets, banks still operating in politically or economically unstable regions can actually capitalise on reduced competition and ripe opportunities.

In particular, Henri outlines the methods that banks can take to mitigate risk – including spreading the risk across multiple markets, choosing short-term trade-finance instruments, and seeking the support of export credit agencies (ECAs) when facilitating medium to long-term transactions.
