The CommonwealthFirst initiative, launched jointly by the Commonwealth Enterprise and Investment Council (CWEIC) and Royal Mail, has been featured on the website of the Greater Manchester Chamber of Commerce.
Over the next three years CommonwealthFirst will provide first-class mentoring and business development support to 100 high-potential, ambitious UK SMEs so that they find export success in the diverse and growing markets of the Commonwealth – a collective of 53 countries containing nearly a third of the world’s population.
The success of these UK SMEs will then be showcased as an encouragement to the wider business community to make greater use of the Commonwealth network, and a global roll-out of the programme will follow the initial UK pilot.
The first cohort of 27 SMEs has already been selected, with a trade mission to India due to happen later this year.
