Are alternative forms of finance still worthy of that name, or are they now part of the mainstream? This was one of the key themes for the Falcon Group’s seventh annual Trade & Corporate Finance Forum held last month in Dubai. In an article for GT News, Will Nagle provides an overview of the event highlighting the growing importance of specialist financing from the economic, banking, non-bank financier and corporate perspectives.
Entitled ‘Specialist Lending for Challenging Times’ the forum analysed the current economic conditions in addition to noting the detrimental effect that ongoing bank retrenchment is having on cross-border lending. Certainly, Will Nagle argues, with regulators clamping down on “excessive” risk-taking by the banks, corporates – both large and small – should look to specialist lenders.
