ICC reveals Global Survey findings at GTR Asia

Vincent O’Brien, Chair of ICC Banking Commission Market Intelligence, discussed key global trends originating from the Global Survey at the GTR Asia Trade Finance Week held on 8 September in Singapore. These included the sharp increase in the demand for traditional trade finance instruments, as markets take on much riskier profiles, and the expected increase in trade finance offerings by global and regional banks. O’Brien also presented data showing that Asia Pacific was by far the most active trading bloc in 2014, with the region leading the rest of the world in both exports and imports, and showed that the renminbi has risen to be the second most used currency on Swift’s messaging system.
